Nitros couldn’t best Ghostriders powerplay in rival match-up

The Kimberley Dynamiters’ head coach says their penalty kill wasn’t strong enough on Saturday and led to their 5-4 loss to the Fernie Ghostriders.

Head Coach Derek Stuart was happy with the team’s effort but they were too undisciplined.

“I thought it was a pretty good game overall by us. Five-on-five we controlled the game and held them to a few scoring chances but unfortunately their powerplay was clicking and our penalty kill had an off night,” he added.

“With the good discipline we had we still gave them two powerplays and that’s something we have to stop doing.”

The Dynamiters are now heading on the road to meet the Sicamous Eales and Revelstoke Grizzlies.

Stuart is expecting two tough teams.

“I believe Sicamous is heating up a little bit with some wins and Revelstoke is always good. We’re going to have to stay focused for that Friday game,” he said.

“I know the guys will have no problem getting up for a game on Saturday in Revelstoke but we have to stay focused and be prepared for the Eagles.”

The Dynamiters are 14-5-2 on the season for first in the Eddie Mountain Division.
