The Kimberley Dynamiters are preparing for battle as they face the rival Fernie Ghostriders on Saturday.
“They’re a good team. We know they have a couple of top-end talents like Tyler Haggerty and their goaltender so we’re looking to set the tone physically and start a war on Saturday,” said head coach Derek Stuart.
The Dynamiters are coming off of a split weekend where they lost 4-2 to the Columbia Valley Rockies but beat the Golden Rockets 9-1.
Stuart says they played like two different teams.
“I liked everything I saw on Saturday and not much of what I saw on Friday,” he said.
“I thought we were two completely different teams in terms of preparation, intensity and urgency.”
The Dynamiters only have one game this weekend.
“I don’t mind it once in a while. It gives us an extra practice this week,” Stuart added.
“With Fernie playing on Friday, it’s our turn to have the one-day weekend and hopefully take advantage of the extra day of rest.”
The Nitros are 14-4-2 on the season for first in the Eddie Mountain Division.
