Bucks head coach Ryan Donald was happy with the team’s effort despite two losses over the weekend.
The Bucks had their work cut out for them facing the top two teams in the Interior Conference.
“They’re a tough two teams in our conference here and it was a good measuring stick for us,” said Donald.
They started the weekend off with a close 4-3 loss to the Penticton Vees.
“On Friday we played well, had a couple of lapses in the second period but found our way into a one-goal hockey game late,” he added.
“A couple of bounces that go one way or another and we’re right in there with a pretty good hockey club.”
The Bucks then lost 5-2 on the road against the Brooks Bandits.
Again Donald was impressed with the team’s effort, especially in the third period.
“We knew Saturday night in Brooks was going to be a tough test. We came out of the first period on our heels a little bit and in the second period again we had too many lapses in our reads and executions,” he said.
“They are a good hockey team and took advantage of it. I was proud of our guys for sticking with it. We found two goals in the third period, won the third and hopefully we can take some lessons from both of those games.”
The Bucks are now 10-8 on the season for third in the Interior East Division.
