The Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies (CFKR) is looking to honour community members who made significant contributions to their community.
CFKR Executive Director Lynnette Wray says the Knights of Pythias Community Volunteer Award recognizes people who have made a positive impact in Cranbrook and the surrounding areas.
“We’re really looking to recognize the using heroes. These are people who have not been selling the limelight, who are quietly dedicated to the community through their volunteer work,” said Wray.
“Preference is given to people who have not been recognized previously through other community or volunteerism awards, and we know that our community is full of these volunteers.”
The CFKR will announce the recipient on Giving Tuesday (December 3) and $750 will go to the local CRA-registered charity/qualified done of their choice.
“So much happens in our community because of volunteers, I think it’s important to recognize them and show that we recognize them and show that we value volunteerism in our community,” said Wray.
