Byram fitting in with new team

Cranbrook’s Bowen Byram has been off to a hot start to the season with the Buffalo Sabres in his first full season with the team.

Byram has three goals and six points for nine points in 14 games.

He had a two-goal game in a 5-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday.

“Those games are really fun to be a part of. I thought our fans were really good as well,” Byram said in a postgame press conference.

“I saw I had a little time and space and tried to sneak to the backside. It was an unreal pass to me and that one felt good.”

Byram was traded from the Colorado Avalanche last season at the trade deadline.

He says it was a tough move but he’s fitting in with the Sabres.

“Obviously it’s tough. I had been in Denver for three and a half years so it kind of felt like home but I was excited for a new opportunity and to play with some close buddies of mine,” he added.

“It’s been a good change for me and our team has had a pretty good start to the year.”

Byram and the Buffalo Sabres will be home to the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
