Columbia Valley RCMP and Search and Rescue crews recovered a pair of hikers who became separated in Kootenay National Park.
Police officials say the detachment received a call about two missing hikers on Friday, November 1.
The pair was lost in the Kootenay Valley viewpoint area along Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park.
However, the search could not commence until the following morning due to darkness.
National Parks Search and Rescue and Columbia Valley Search and Rescue jumped into action on November 2.
One of the two women was found on Highway 93 after she separated from her friend and made her way out.
The other woman was found by a helicopter team, where they used a long line to get her to safety.
“Neither hiker suffered any injuries; however, some poor decisions required them to spend a cold night in the forest,” said Columbia Valley RCMP officials.
