The Cranbrook Youth Ambassador Program is accepting applications for its 60th year in operation.
Program Co-Coordinator Loree Duczek says they are making preparations for the next year’s applicants.
“Applications for the 2025 Program are currently being accepted and our 2024 Ambassadors along with a number of alumni have been busy hosting information meetings in their schools and talking to potential candidates,” says Duczek.
“We have two evening information meetings planned for the coming weeks to help not only share information on what we have planned for 2025, but answer questions that potential candidates or their families might have.”
An information session will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5 at Cranbrook’s RDEK Office in Cranbrook, another will happen via Zoom at 7 p.m. on November 13.
An in-school information session is planned for November 19 at 11:40 a.m. in Mount Baker’s Room 121.
“It surprises me every year when people say they had no idea what this program was all about,” said Duczek.
“It is a six-month program focused on helping youth develop self-confidence while providing training in everything from public speaking and resume writing to financial management, basic car care, self-defense, professionalism and budgeting There is also a focus on community involvement and volunteering and the potential to earn scholarships.”
Duczek says the Youth Ambassador Program will make sure to do something special for their 60th year.
“We are waiting to hear what direction the 2025 Spirit of the Rockies Festival is going to take and that is going to take,” said Duczek.
“From there, we’re going to figure out how that fits into our program and how we want to take things, but there certainly will be some celebration and acknowledgement of our 60th year.”
Applications can be found here, from any of the 2024 youth ambassador candidates or by contacting Karin Penner.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Monday, November 25, with the 2025 program starting on December 8.
Applications are open to Cranbrook girls in Grades 10 and 11.
