Purcell Hockey Academy wins Vermont Fall Foliage Classic

The newly formed Girls 19U Purcell Hockey Academy is off to a great first year after coming out on top in Vermont for the 2024 Fall Foliage Classic.

“I am incredibly proud of this group and how they have united as a team, despite coming from different countries and backgrounds,” said head coach Valeriia Machak-Jenson.

“Each player has put in a tremendous amount of effort to perform at their best, and I truly believe they deserve every bit of recognition for it.”

The tournament ran from Oct. 18-20 in South Burlington, Vermont.

The team started off the tournament with three wins in the preliminary round, defeating Rice Prep 9-3, the Boston Advantage 5-3 and the New York Lady Devils 4-2.

That advanced them to the Tier 1 finals against the New Hampshire Mountain Cats where they pulled off a 3-1 win.

Their chemistry, determination, and support for each other speak volumes,” said associate coach Megan Hostasek.

“It’s an exciting beginning, and I believe it sets a strong foundation for a promising season and represents a successful launch for Purcell Hockey Academy.”

The Purcell Hockey Academy will play a two-game set in Colorado against Denver University.

They will follow that with another tournament, this time in Boise Idaho, before breaking for Christmas.
