Repair work to the structural support columns on the pool decks in Cranbrook’s Western Financial Place is moving along, but some welding work will change operating hours.
City officials say the welding will start next week and the pools will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday, Nov. 4 to Thursday, Nov 7.
This will have an impact on the pool’s programs for the week.
“Some scheduled aquafit classes, adult leisure swims, swim lane times, and swim lessons will be affected by the pool closure, and those participants have already been contacted by staff,” said city staff.
“Late afternoon or evening programs will continue as scheduled while the column repairs are completed.”
Two other projects will get underway while the closure is going on to take advantage of this downtime.
Crews will install a new steam generator in the Aquatic Centre’s Steam Room and work will begin on the installation of new handrails in Western Financial Place.
The City says work is on schedule and work in the Aquatic Centre should be done by Friday, Nov. 8, but the handrail installation will take a few more weeks afterwards.
