Elk Valley first responders rescue two people trapped in three-vehicle pile-up

Elk Valley first responders rescued two people trapped in a three-vehicle pile-up near Elko.

Four members of the Fernie Fire Department along with the fire chief were called into action on Thursday..

The fire department says the rescue was challenging as two people were trapped in separate vehicles.

First responders were able to safely extract both people and transfer them into the care of the BC Ambulance Service.

Meanwhile, other members of the fire department responded to a small brush fire near the Ridgemont subdivision and a separate medical incident.

“We were able to mitigate all incidents in cooperation with the Elk Valley RCMP and BC Ambulance service,” said the Fernie Fire Department.
