Hollywood comes to Invermere

Invermere residents can expect to see some film crews in the area as filming for a new movie gets underway soon.

“The filming is going to be starting in a couple of weeks,” said Mayor Al Miller.

“Certainly the production crews have been in and looking at sites and so on. The chamber of commerce and the economic commission have been working very hard on this project.”

Miller says it’s good to bring in different types of industries and this production will stimulate the local economy.

“Diversification in business is so important. We’ve had films done before but it’s always good to welcome them back,” he added.

“We really want to work with them in the future. It provides a lot of opportunities for people in our area, for business, and for people who want to be involved in it and learn new skills. I’m very pleased it’s happening in our area.”

The movie is called All Night Wrong and Miller says it looks like a lot of fun.

“It’s a bit of a comedy with a few twists in it and I’m certainly looking forward to it.”

The movie features Maria Bakalova who’s known for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and is set to star in The Apprentice later this year as Ivana Trump.

It also stars Zach Cherry who has had roles on numerous TV shows including Fallout, Severance and HBO’s Succession.

This isn’t the first time a movie has been filmed in the Invermere area.

Most recently the 2017 film The Mountain Between Us starring Idris Alba was shot in the Columbia Valley.
