The Golden Rockets are no longer winless after sweeping their weekend road trip.
The Rockets beat the Spokane Braves 3-1 and followed that up with a close 3-2 shootout win in Castlegar against the Rebels.
Head coach Jed Houseman says he was happy with the team’s start after a long bus ride.
“It was nice to get two wins. I really liked the way we started in Spokane after a long bus trip,” he added.
“We had 55 shots or something like that in that game. Everybody was going and it was great to get that first win.”
In the next game against Castlegar, he says they showed great resiliency after some penalty trouble.
“We killed off a full two-minute five-on-three and a five-minute major directly after and ultimately won in a shootout.”
Forward Kanye Huang was suspended one game for checking from behind.
The Rockets will be at home this weekend and will have a rematch with the Rebels on Friday.
“We know what Castlegar is about and I’m expecting a lot of pushback from them,” Houseman added.
“They probably didn’t like losing on home ice, so we need to be ready right off the hop on Friday and ready for that pressure.”
The Rockets will then face the Creston Valley Thunder Cats on Saturday.
