The Columbia Valley Rockies will look to get back in the win column after suffering their first losses of the season.
The team was 4-0 heading into their first road trip but started the weekend off with a 6-3 loss to the Castlegar Rebels.
“I think Friday night we just showed up on the road unprepared and Castlegar is a good team and they took advantage of us not being ready to play,” said head coach Tayler Sincennes.
“It took us too long to get involved in that game.”
Sincennes liked Saturday’s game more but he says they took too many penalties to win.
“Saturday night I thought we actually had a really solid game and played really well five-on-five,” he said.
“We didn’t really take advantage of our powerplay opportunities, but it created momentum for us. We took too many penalties to win a hockey game on the road. We were shorthanded far too many times to have success.”
The Rockies only have one match this coming weekend as they get set for a home game rematch against Castlegar.
“It gives you an extra day to prepare as you get an extra practice on Friday,” he added.
“I’m looking to see the guys come out with a little bit of vengeance and motivation to get them back. At least show up with a better effort and see where the cards fall.”
Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
