Sparwood’s skating loop will be getting an upgrade as lighting will be installed along the Lions Park pathway.
The district has awarded D.A. Electric Ltd. with a $256,823.84 contract to install the lighting.
Council approved an additional $60,000 for engineering and contingency for a total project cost of $316,823.84.
A total of $250,000 was identified in the capital budget and the remaining funds will come from the capital works reserve.
The lighting will allow residents to access the skating loop when it’s dark early in the winter months and will light up the pathway year-round.
The plan is to have the lighting installed by the winter season.
