Rival Dynamiters and Ghostriders to meet Friday

The Kimberley Dynamiters and Fernie Ghostriders will battle it out for the first time this season on Friday night.

Nitros head coach Derek Stuart says the players are always extra motivated when they play Fernie.

“I’m expecting our guys to be ready to go anytime we play Fernie,” he said.

“It’s an easy one I don’t have to do any motivating, but we’re not too concerned about what our opponents are bringing. We’re focused on what we need to do right now.”

Ghostriders head coach Chad Scharff says they have enough firepower to get the win.

“First and foremost you have to look at our captain Tayler Haggerty, who is coming off a 65-point season last year,” he said.

“Now as a 20-year-old he just has that much more experience. You look at our goaltending too and Nick Kunyk had a really good year last year and is looking to build off that as well.”

This is the Ghostriders’ first game of the regular season, while the Nitros are 1-1 so far.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m. on Friday.
