The Fernie Ghostriders will look for another successful regular season after losing in the Teck Cup last year.
While the Regular season starts tonight, the Ghostriders don’t play until September 27.
Head coach Chad Scharff said they’ll have some firepower on display.
“First and foremost you have to look at our captain Tayler Haggerty, who is coming off a 65-point season last year,” he said.
“Now as a 20-year-old he just has that much more experience. We brought in a few other guys like Luke Rothfos and Colby Driebergen who are on a new team and looking to put their stamp on it.”
And the same goes for goaltending.
“You look at our goaltending too and Nick Kunyk had a really good year last year and is looking to build off that as well.”
While winning games is nice, Scharff said the main focus is on developing the team.
“For me, it’s not about the end of the year, it’s about the process of going through day-to-day with this group and trying to learn from each other and grow.”
The Ghostriders’ first match will be next Friday in Kimberley against the Dynamiters.
The home opener will be on Sept. 28 against the 100-Mile House Wranglers.
