Fernie under Stage 2 water restrictions due to reservoir rehabilitation

Fernie residents are asked to conserve water as the city conducts repairs to the Fairy Creek Reservoir.

Contractors will be installing new cladding over the reservoir structure and repairing interior and exterior concrete.

The reservoir will be partially drained so work can be completed.

Due to the reduced capacity, Stage 2 watering restrictions will be in effect for the duration of the project.

“It is important that we all behave responsibly and ensure we minimize our water usage and not use it for unnecessary purposes,” said Mayor Nic Milligan.

Under Stage 2 restrictions, even-numbered properties can water on Monday and Thursday, while odd-numbered properties can on Tuesday and Friday.

Watering times are from 5-10 a.m. and 8-11 p.m.
