Kootenay-Columbia MP Rob Morrison is Ottawa-bound for the fall sitting of parliament.
“Back to Ottawa, let’s see what we can do and hopefully we can make some headway and get a grip on our spending so we can somewhat get control of our inflation,” Morrison said.
He said he would have liked some more time to meet with residents.
“I’d prefer to stay here to be honest. Travelling throughout our riding which is around 80,000 square kilometres it’s a lot of space to travel,” he added.
“During the summer it’s really busy to get out and see people and see what’s important to them. It’s short and it would be nice to have it be a little longer.”
Parliament this fall could have a wrinkle after NDP leader Jagmeet Singh ended his party’s agreement with the Liberals.

However, Morrison doesn’t think it will change much.
“Singh tearing up his agreement with the liberals is really nothing in my opinion. They can still vote how they feel like voting,” he said.
He said the conservatives will come out of the gates trying to force an election.
“We need both the Bloc Quebecois and the NDP to vote with us on a non-confidence vote which we’re going to pull out as soon as we get there,” he said.
“We want the carbon tax removed and we’ll have a vote on that. Our job as government is to hold them accountable.”
The fall sitting begins on Sept. 16 and will wrap up on Dec. 17.
