Stage 1 water restrictions are now in effect in Cranbrook for the first time since January 2024.
Cranbrook was on Stage 3 restrictions from August 2023 to January 2024 when the city switched to Stage 2 restrictions.
Public works deputy director Jason Perrault said residents’ water conservation efforts let them go to Stage 1.
“The conscious efforts of everyone in Cranbrook to help us conserve water has had such a positive impact on our water levels in Phillips Reservoir, and our overall water supply for the City,” said Perrault
“Today, our reservoir is full and our creeks that feed our reservoir have stabilized. Along with the Province reducing our creek flow rating and more rain in the forecast this week, we felt it was time that we could return to Stage 1 watering restrictions.”
Even numbered properties can now water on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while odd-numbered properties can on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Watering times are between the hours of 5 a.m.
and 10 a.m. or 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. for a maximum of two hours.
