Update: The Evacuation Order and Alert associated with the Kikomun Wildfire (N12478) have been rescinded.
An Evacuation Order and Alert has been Issued for west of Baynes Lake as the Kikomun Wildfire grows to 4 ha in size.
The evacuation order includes 10 properties, while another 42 were put onto an alert
Eight apparatus and 15 firefighters from the Jaffray, Baynes Lake and Elko Fire Departments are responding to the fire in addition to the BC Wildfire Service, which has a Resource Officer, Unit Crew and air support on scene
This action comes after the Regional District of East Kootenay activated tactical evacuation yesterday for the homes within the area allowing everyone to get out safely.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
