The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce is hosting its inaugural Economic Impact Summit in early October.
The event, dubbed Elevating the Kootenays, will be an opportunity for the business community to connect and learn about the local economy.
“There’s big things happening in the Kootenays and the Chamber is eager to be part of telling that story and creating a space for the region to come together,” said Stacey Brensrud, Interim Executive Director.
“Come out and listen to what’s happening in four key industries in our region: mining, forestry, agriculture and technology.”
Representatives from the federal, provincial, municipal and Indigenous governments have been invited to join.
“One of the big pieces is making those connections and bringing everyone together in the same room. I think it’s beneficial for ministries to hear what’s happening in these industries,” said Brensrud.
“When people come together, you can make new partnerships, share ideas, leave with new contacts and learn what other people are doing.”
The event will go ahead on Oct. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the St. Eugene Resort.
