The Kimberley Dynamiters are getting ready to take on their rival Fernie Ghostriders in their first match of the preseason.
Head coach and GM Derek Stuart said they know what their returning players are capable of so they’ll use these games to evaluate the young talent.
“The guys from last year are very determined and we have quite a few guys who are still in camp and exhibition,” he said.
“They are excited to get to show something in the games and that’s going to be our biggest evaluator of who stays.”
However, he said there probably won’t be too many roster spots to fill with the number of veterans on the team.
“We’re fortunate to have 15 guys back from last year’s team and we’ve added three veterans from other leagues so we’re a very mature, older team this season,” he said.
“I don’t foresee any drastic changes in the near future.”
The Nitros and Ghostriders face off on Saturday in Kimberley.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
