Scott McInnis will be the Conservative Party of B.C. candidate in Columbia River – Revelstoke

Former BC United Party Candidate Scott McInnis has accepted an offer to represent the Conservative Party of B.C in the upcoming election for the Columbia River – Revelstoke riding.

Last week, BC United leader Kevin Falcon pulled the pin on the party’s election campaign throwing confusion and uncertainty for many candidates.

In a live Facebook event this evening, September 2, McInnes cleared the air on his political future, claiming while he was taken by surprise on the timing of the BC United Party’s election suspension, but he wasn’t surprised to see it happen.

McInnes says he spoke with Conservative’s leader John Rustad several times over the last few days, to see if they were a political fit.

“I just wanted to know about the landscape of the party and what the direction was and what their ultimate goals are”

“A couple of things you know really emerged from those conversations, the first one being that all candidates within the Conservative Party of British Columbia first and foremost are there to work for their constituents. Number one, regardless of anything else that’s going on the noise in Victoria- your main role in your job and our expectation of any potential candidate is to be there for their constituents first and foremost.”

“The second piece that became very clear to me after speaking with John is that all voices  and perspectives are not only welcome at the table but encouraged.”

“In short, I’ve decided that I will accept the the position to be the candidate for the Conservative Party of British Columbia here in Columbia River Revelstoke.”

“I took a lot of time to think about the offer and what was to come of that, and to be honest with you, I feel a huge a huge sense of relief and I feel like my feet are back on the ground,”

“I feel like this is the group moving forward that has a really special chance to defeat the NDP and turn this province around and I really want to be a part of that for the people here of Columbia River Revelstoke.”
