Sparwood council is planning on making changes to the district’s traffic, parking and highways regulation bylaw.
An update to the bylaw would allow the district to make minor changes like removing references to repealed bylaws or updating the language.
But it would also allow more substantial changes to be added.
Council will be considering regulations on cost recovery of infrastructure or damage caused by people or organizations leaving materials like rock and gravel on roadways.
“I think cost recovery is important. I think if it’s going to cut down on it and push those vehicles and equipment to be cleaned prior to getting to the highway, it’s a step in the right direction,” said Councillor Sam Atwal.
“It will put some onus on those companies.”
The update will also look at amending the regulations around lane parking in the summer and reviewing the standards for driveway construction.
A staff report will be sent back to council at a future meeting.
