Starting November 1, workplaces will be required to follow new Occupational Health and Safety rules.

The new regulations will rename level 1, 2, and 3 first aid certifications to basic, intermediate, and advanced, and will also reduce the course length for intermediate to two days.

They will also require employers to do a workplace assessment and do drills at least annually. There are also some changes to transportation requirements.

WorkSafeBC says existing first aid certificate holders won’t have to upgrade, unless they expire before October 30.
