A woman was killed in a head-on collision near Field along Highway 1 on Wednesday afternoon
Emergency crews responded shortly before 12:30 p.m. when a pickup truck from the US and a minivan from Calgary collided.
Police said the pickup truck carrying two passengers crossed the centre line and struck the oncoming minivan with three people inside.
RCMP officials said all five people were hospitalized from the crash.
“There were serious injuries. Two people were sent to Calgary’s hospital by air, and three others were sent to Kamloops Hospital,” said RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. James Grandy.
The passenger inside the pickup truck succumbed to her wounds and tragically passed away.
The remaining four people involved are still in the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening condition.
The highway was closed for the afternoon while first responders were on the scene.
Grandy said the investigation is still underway.
“They’re still trying to figure it out. It’s not yet quite clear what the cause of the crash was,” said Grandy.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Golden-Field RCMP at 250-344-2221.
