If you need an excuse to buy a blizzard from Dairy Queen today, here it is.

Today, August 8, is the 22nd Annual DQ Miracle Treat Day where DQ’s across the province donate the net proceeds from every blizzard sold to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Rita Thodos, Executive Vice President of Philanthropy at BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, says the money raised through Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day go towards the areas of greatest need at the hospital, and this means pediatric health care experts have more resources to tackle the most complex health challenges faced by our kids and youth.

” For example, last year we were the first Canadian hospital to implant a new type of pacemaker into a newborn.”

“So, it may seem like a small action, but by purchasing a Blizzard treat today you’re actually helping to support 100 ,000 families and their kids who rely on BC Children’s Hospital each and every year.”

There are 123 DQ’s across BC participating in today’s fundraiser. In the Kootenays, there is Castlegar, Cranbrook, Creston, Fernie, Grand Forks, Nelson and Trail.

Last year, the fundraiser raised $280,676.74.

“By treating yourself to something sweet on August 8, you have the power to make a mighty difference in the lives of patients and their families.” said Thodos.
