The Fernie Ghostriders have hired Chad Scharff as the team’s new head coach and general manager.
Scharff is coming off a season as head coach of the Airdrie CFR Bisons U18AAA team.
He also has extensive experience in other hockey roles.
“Scharff comes to the Ghostriders with a great deal of elite hockey coaching experience, being involved with both Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada,” said Ghostriders president Barb Anderson.
“He has also worked for the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Giants.”
He played with the Vancouver Giants from 2002-07 winning a memorial cup with the team.
Scharff is taking over from Ty Valin who announced he was stepping down from the role in July.
