Busy borders this long weekend

The Civic Holiday long weekend means many will be going across the border in the U.S. to do things like back-to-school shopping and to enjoy a little bit of summer while it’s still here.

Canada Border Services Agency officials say, in preparation for your trip, you should prepare the best you can including having your travel documents and checking ahead so you know what the wait time will be like on the CBSA website.

Charles Fisher is the Chief of Operations for the CBSA says pack your patience.

“We’ve been seeing traffic has rebounded pretty close to what it was pre pandemic over the past year or so. So, what you would have seen in 2018,/2019 is going to be close to what you will see this year.”

Fisher adds that midday is generally the busiest time for crossing so he recommends go over in the early morning or later in the day.
