Incident Management Team set up in South Rockies Complex

The BC Wildfire Service has assigned an Incident Management Team to the South Rockies Complex to oversee the Dogtooth, Ravenshead and Mount Morro fires.

There are 79 firefighters and seven field staff assigned to the complex along with 12 helicopters and 20 pieces of heavy equipment.

Crews haven’t seen significant growth within the complex over the last couple of days.

“The IMT has been in place since Saturday morning and the three days we’ve been here we’ve seen no significant fire growth on any of the three fires,” said BC Wildfire Service information officer Nicole Bonnett.

“There’s been some cooler temperatures, some higher relative humidity and some smoke cover through the valley which is really helping keep that solar radiant heat from getting to the fuels on the ground.”

However, some increased winds are expected to pick up later this afternoon.

The BC Wildfire Service is planning two small-scale ignitions on the northern edge and southeast corner of the Dogtooth blaze.
