BC Hydro customers can now save up to $10,000 on solar panels and battery storage, thanks to new rebates.
In a release, Hydro says the rebates will go up to $5,000 for grid-connected panels and another $5,000 for battery storage systems, with the goal of making it easier for you to generate power, lower your bills, and to deliver excess clean energy back to BC’s electricity grid.
President and CEO of Hydro Chris O’Reilly says they are excited to offer these rebates to customers in need.
“Adding more renewable generation and storage options also helps the overall electricity system by reducing demand from the grid,” said O’Reilly.
To be eligible for the rebates, Hydro says you need to participate in their Self-Generation program, a program focused on supporting people who generate their own electricity, and to enroll in the self-generation rate, with any excess generation to be credited on the next bill.
If you have generation credits by March 1, Hydro will pay you at market price.
