Cranbrook RCMP seize over $1 million in illicit substances over three months

Cranbrook RCMP saw a productive quarter as its Enhanced Response Unit seized upwards of $1 million in illicit substances over three months.

RCMP officials said the Enhanced Response Unit has focused its efforts on people involved in the sale of illicit drugs in Cranbrook.

“The drug trade negatively impacts the entire community, often with outsized harm caused to some of our most vulnerable citizens,” said Cranbrook RCMP.

Investigators removed a large amount of drugs from the community, including 1.4 kg of fentanyl, 3.1 kg of methamphetamine and 4.9 kg of cocaine.

Police estimate the street value of these drugs to exceed $1 million.

Investigators also found and seized $123,295 in Canadian currency and two unregistered guns.

Three men are facing a number of charges as a result of the investigation, including possession for the purpose of trafficking.

“Cranbrook RCMP continue to target and investigate those involved and who are contributing to the drug supply in our community,” said Cpl. Parker of the Enhanced Response Unit.

“This is a great example of the hard work and proactive enforcement being conducted by the Cranbrook RCMP.”
