Kimberley firefighters were in the Forest Crowne area to take down their second house fire in four days.
Assistant Fire Chief Chad Koran said the crew jumped into action shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
“We had 16 personnel on scene with two apparatus and four support vehicles,” said Koran.
“It took about five and half hours from the time we got into the time we headed back. We were dealing with the blaze itself for about three and a half hours.”
Koran said everyone was able to get out of the building safely, and crews managed to keep the fire contained to one building
“There were no injuries to the occupants of the home or the pets. One pet was outside by the time we got there, we rescued the other from inside the home,” said Koran.
“After we made entry to the home, there was no extension to any of the neighbouring properties.”
Koran does not suspect any connection with the house fire in Marysville.
“They’re both still under investigation, but there are no indicators that make it obvious as to what happened in either case,” said Koran.
“We’re going to keep working with the Fire Commissioner to take a look and see what happened.”
