Water levels dropping in Phillips Reservoir

The City of Cranbrook is starting to see water levels drop in the Phillips Reservoir as the heatwave continues.

The average flow going into the reservoir is 16.46 million litres per day which is a decrease of 172,615 litres from three weeks ago.

However overall consumption has gone down.

“The residents are for sure buying into this. The consumption is down considerably,” said Mayor Wayne Price.

“People are taking this very seriously and being proactive. There are not very many lawns in town that are fully green right now.”

The city has seen an overall water consumption decrease of approximately 4.59 million litres compared to the same time last year.

Cranbrook will continue with Stage 2 watering restrictions until further notice.
