New fire in Kootenay National Park being held

A fire sparked in Kootenay National Park on Sunday, July 14, is now being held by the BC Wildfire Service.

The fire started near the Diana Lake campsite and is under one hectare.

The blaze is projected to remain within the current control line.

The cause is still being investigated.

The fire northeast of Radium Hot Springs, believed to be caused by lightning, is also now under control.

It was discovered on July 9 and grew to approximately 12 hectares.
