Reinhart inks eight-year contract with Panthers

Former Kootenay Ice star Sam Reinhart has re-signed with the Florida Panthers with a new deal worth $69 million.

Reinhart will now be making approximately $8.6 million a season for the next eight years.

The Panthers were able to get the deal done just before the midnight deadline on June 30 heading into free agency so no other teams were able to offer him a contract.

“Since coming to South Florida, Sam has demonstrated his ability to be a powerful scoring threat while maintaining strong defensive play,” said president of hockey operations and GM Bill Zito.

“His versatility and value as a player are only outshined by his premier personality and work ethic, and we are pleased to have him continue on with our group.”

Reinhart had a career year in Florida last season tallying 57 goals and 94 points in 82 games.

He capped off the season by scoring the game winning goal in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final to bring the Panthers its first cup in franchise history.
