College partners with rental service to provide student housing

The College of the Rockies (COTR) has partnered with real-estate firm Happipad to bolster student housing.

College officials said this partnership comes in response to the lack of affordable housing options for students.

“Students are finding it more difficult to find appropriate, affordable housing in a lot of our communities,” said Paul Vogt, College president.

“This partnership with Happipad aims to augment the current housing supply, making it easier for students, and in turn other community members, to find safe and affordable housing.”

The service will allow homeowners with a spare room to match with potential renters. The process includes background screening, legal contracts, insurance information and other information.

“We are thrilled to partner with the College of the Rockies to address the pressing issue of affordable housing for students,” said Cailan Libby, founder and CEO of Happipad.

“Our partnership aims to create a seamless and supportive living environment that benefits both, hosts and students.”

College officials said this partnership will benefit both user groups by providing more housing options to students and giving homeowners some extra income.

“The service takes care of details like security deposits, rent payments, legal documents, and background checks,” said COTR officials.

“They will take care of any conflicts that may arise, as well as any other support that may arise.”
