Stream flows into Cranbrook’s reservoir continue to slow

Stream flow levels from Gold Creek and Joseph Creek have decreased as the spring freshet passes and temperatures rise.

Both Creeks saw water levels drop approximately four inches in the last two weeks.

The average daily consumption in Cranbrook has also gone up by approximately 460,000 litres in the past two weeks.

However, the Phillips Reservoir is still full.

“The Phillips Reservoir level is holding for now, however, with the expected reduction of flow from the reservoir’s tributaries, we are anticipating that level to begin dropping,” said public works deputy director Jason Perrault.

“We ask that all property owners to please respect the regulations of the Stage 2 Water restrictions as set out in the bylaw.”

Under Stage 2 restrictions, even-numbered properties may water on Monday and Thursday and odd-numbered properties on Tuesday and Friday.

Watering times are for two hours between 5-10 a.m. or 8-11 p.m., not both.
