Two of Cranbrook’s major capital works projects for the year have reached substantial completion.
Phase 2 of the lagoons bypass construction is done except for some final restoration work and site cleanup.
“That’s a huge milestone,” said roads and infrastructure manager Curtis Mummery.
“The pipeline is fully installed, the systems are operational and the new works are in service and functioning.”
Work was completed ahead of schedule by the contractor, Copcan.
The Highway 95 watermain crossing is also complete except for some road restoration.
“Everything went super well for that project,” said Mummery.
“It had to be done by the end of June and they hit that deadline early so that was great to see.”
Work included drilling the new watermain under the highway to replace the old, undersized line which was in poor condition and at the end of its life.
The new line has been installed, tested, tied in and is fully operational.
