The City of Fernie has awarded a $625,600 contract to Marwest Industries for the construction of active transportation improvements.

“This bid is under budget compared to our consultant’s estimate by approximately $125,000,” said project engineer Joanna Line.

There are three main projects on the docket for this year.

“The projects that will go ahead with this are 7th Street from the Annex Dike to 9th Avenue, 9th Street from the same extends and the missing link along Ridgemont Avenue that would tie together the sidewalks on both ends,” she said.
