A 63-year-old man was found driving through the Columbia Valley after he was reported as missing from Bellingham, Washington.
Columbia Valley RCMP officials said the detachment received a call from a transit bus driver on Thursday.
The driver said he was being followed by a car with Washington license plates for over two hours.
Police intercepted the vehicle when it entered Invermere and officers spoke with the man behind the wheel.
The man said he was not aware that he was in Canada and did not know why he was there.
Police officials said the man was arrested under the Mental Health Act and taken to the Invermere Hospital.
RCMP officials later learned that the man was reported as missing from Bellingham, Washington.
