Bucks and Ghostriders both down 2-0 in Playoff matchups

The Fernie Ghostriders and Cranbrook Bucks have both dug themselves a 2-0 hole in their respective playoff series.

The Bucks are up against the West Kelowna Warriors in Round 1 of the BCHL playoffs.

The first two games on the road didn’t go as planned after they suffered an 8-2 loss followed by a heartbreaking 4-3 overtime defeat.

Bucks’ head coach Ryan Donald said the team has played well against West Kelowna in the past.

“We’ve been fortunate to have a decent run of success against them in the regular season,” he said.

“We certainly understand what makes them tick and we have to be prepared to counter them from a system and structure perspective, but they’re a team we think we can match up with and go toe-to-toe with.”

But to do that they’ll need to shut down the offence of a team that likes putting the puck in the net.

“They have a ton of offensive talent,” added Donald.

“That’s kind of been their model over the last couple of years.”

The Bucks are back home for the next two games with Game 3 set for Tuesday, April 9.

The Fernie Ghostriders are also back at home, but will play Game 3 tonight against the Revelstoke Grizzlies.

The Ghostriders will look to bounce back after a 4-2 and 5-2 loss, and will need to get their powerplay going again after going 0-6 on Saturday night.
