Mainroad starting up spring highway sweeping

Drivers can expect some slow-moving traffic on local highways starting next week, as Mainroad East Kootenay crews will be sweeping from Cranbrook to Kingsgate on Highway 3, as well as from Yahk to Carrol Creek.

Work will also be going on from Skookumchuk to Fairmont on Highway 93/95, Columer Park and from Elko to Grasmere on Highway 93.

Mainroad officials said work will begin on April 8 and drivers can expect a slow-moving operation with some possible single-lane alternating traffic in place.

The City of Cranbrook is also beginning its spring sweeping, with crews starting from Van Horne Street to 14th Avenue South between 1st Street South and 11th Street South.
