Hockey in the Rockies is back this summer at the Western Financial Place teaching kids the hockey basics.
Instructor Colin Sinclair says it’s been a good start to the program.
“We’ve had a great group of kids, great parents, and great instructors, it’s been a great start to the week. It’s only Tuesday but so far it’s been great.”
The Hockey camp gives plenty of ice time to kids aged 5-14, but Don Murdoch says it’s not just on-ice teaching.
“We have our lunch program, we have a video and lectures up top, so the kids get a full day.”
He adds that it’s always cool to see what happens to the kids that go through the program when they get older.
“There is nothing better than seeing a kid that’s gone through our school and happens to go to BC Junior or to university. It’s always nice to see the kids excel here.”
There are also dry-land training activities being run by Kimberley Skating Club head coach Jessica Grajczyk.
The program runs from Aug. 7-11 but all spots have been filled.
