Weekend crash being investigated as foul play

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit believes a crash along Mission Wasa Low Road that left a woman dead was the result of foul play.

In the early morning hours on Sunday, police arrived at the scene and identified the body of Anna Morigeau.

She was driving a newer model grey Ford F-150.

While Cranbrook RCMP investigated the crash, a man believed to be in the same vehicle as Morigeau was admitted to East Kootenay Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation because police believe the crash, which led to her death, was caused by foul play.

Police said the cause of death isn’t being released to protect the investigation.

The man admitted to the hospital is also being treated as a victim.

Another man was taken into custody but was later released without criminal charges.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on Morigeau’s activities on July 1 and into the early hours of July 2 to contact the major crime unit at 1-877-987-8477.

Forensic Identification Service members from Nelson, Cranbrook and Creston have been assisting.
