All around Canada, 34 Lowe’s and Rona hardware stores will be closing early next year.
Across the country, retail stores will be closing down as the company says they are underperforming.
In the East Kootenay however, both Cranbrook and Invermere stores said they are unaffected by the cutbacks.
Rona Cranbrook Building Centre and Rona North Star Building Supplies in Invermere are both independently operated.
According to Lowe’s Canada, the closures are part of several actions taken to create a better position itself for the future and improve performance.
Of the 34 stores closing nationwide, three of them are in B.C., in Prince George, Surrey, and Osoyoos.
Lowe’s said a majority of the stores will be closed down on January 31, 2020, with the remainder to be closed on February 19, 2020.
