Kootenay Columbia MP Opposed to RCMP Budget Cuts

Kootenay-Columbia’s Member of Parliament, Rob Morrison, is upset with proposed budget cuts for the RCMP, which he said will remove rural officers.

Morrison said the government at all levels has a responsibility to provide safety and security. He said removing Mounties from small detachments across rural B.C. does not serve that need.

Morrison is working with local MLAs on this issue to ensure that the RCMP can protect local communities.

MP Morrison once served as senior Executive Chief-Superintendent with the Mounties, responsible for policing-service delivery models in all parts of B.C.

Morrison added that left unresolved, the cuts will become a disservice to rural British Columbians.
