City Warns Residents of Thin Ice Dangers

As temperatures get colder, the City of Cranbrook is reminding residents to be careful around frozen bodies of water.

This ice could be a danger to children or those who may be unaware.

“It is important for parents to talk to their kids about the dangers of thin ice, and to please stay off the ice until it is at least six inches thick. It is important that adults lead by example and please stay off the ice, too,” said the City.

It’s also recommended to keep pets off of the ice for their safety as well.

Also, the city said it will work on the installation of outdoor skating rinks as the temperature and weather allows.
