Elk Valley RCMP says reports of attempted scam text messages have been coming in.
Police officials said residents should be vigilant and think twice before opening a link received via text or email.
In a post on Facebook, Elk Valley RCMP shared an example of a scam text that says the following:
“Canada Post: Your package could not be delivered. To schedule a new delivery , see [link] . Data rates may apply.” [sic]
If you are suspicious about any messages you receive, Elk Valley RCMP officials said you should contact the shipping company directly instead of opening an unsolicited link.
