Columbia Valley RCMP is looking into an attempted and successful fuel theft that investigators believe to be related.
The first was reported on the night of Nov. 21, when a staff member at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort said a guest vehicle was the target of an attempted gas theft.
RCMP officials said the suspect had drilled a hole in the gas tank and inserted a hose to siphon the fuel.
The theft was interrupted and some gas spilled into the parking lot.
The next day, Nov. 22, a fuel theft was reported in Radium Hot Springs.
A hole was drilled into the fuel cell of a vehicle sometime overnight and about three-quarters of the diesel tank was siphoned out.
Police officials said video surveillance of the incident is under review and the investigation is ongoing.
